Social Affairs Minister, Richard Kouyoumjian, on Wednesday capitalized on the Lebanese Forces ministers’ transparency and logic, as well as their resolve to build a rule of law and to commit to the regulations and laws in force.
In response to a question by the Voice of Lebanon Radio station about Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil's comments about Hezbollah's role in the assumption of President Michel Aoun of the Lebanese Presidency, the LF Minister said that without Christian support, Lebanon would have always been in a vacuum.
“Despite Hezbollah's support during the two-and-a-half years of vacuum, without the guarantee given to Aoun by the LF, he would not have been elected President of the Republic,” the minister explained.
As for statements alluding that Hezbollah had defeated Israel because of the support of the "Free Patriotic Movement”, Kouyoumjian deemed them strictly dubious.
