Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri welcomed at his Ain el-Tineh residence on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Iran's Ambassador Mohammad Jalal Firouznia.
Talks reportedly touched on the bilateral relations and most recent developments in the region.
Following the one-hour meeting, Minister Zarif said Iran accords utmost importance to bolstering relations with Lebanon, deeming the formation of the new government as a "great national achievement."
Zarif expressed Iran's full readiness to cooperate with Lebanon in all vital and potential fields, out of our conviction that this serves the national interest of the two brotherly countries.
"Our significant relations serve our two peoples, without any negative impact on any of the parties," he concluded.
On the other hand, Speaker Berri met with former minister Mohammed Safadi and Minister of State for Women and Youth Affairs, Violet Khairallah Safadi.
Berri later received the Hungarian Ambassador to Lebanon, with talks reportedly touching on the bilateral relations.
