Head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, MP Mohammad Raad on Wednesday considered that Lebanon must reach a stage where it could transform the management of public finances. "We do not have a magic wand to do what can be done in this regard. This needs perseverance."
During a memorial ceremony at the Husseini Club in southern Ansar municipality, MP Raad said, "We will not despair. Our will will not be shaken and we will not hesitate in continuing our persecution of those corrupted and corruptors. However, this entails a lot of patience. It needs setting plans and concerting the efforts of parliamentary national blocs and political forces so that they help us in our path. God willing, it will happen."
"Do you know what would happen if Lebanon was deprived of debt? We would be facing a blockade, not only of our work, job opportunities, and activities, but also of our livelihood. This is the blockade that holds the country down, and yet we still encounter those who underestimate public money and rent a governmental building for each one of the directorates," Raad said.
"Those who spend millions of dollars as rental allowance while the same ministry owns a lot of empty buildings that can be employed by the same directorate. Why do they do that? Simply out of underestimation, for gaining some profit or special benefit for a certain person or entity, all at the expense of the public money. This is why we demanded a Parliament investigation committee and coordinated with our Amal Movement brothers and the rest of the blocs that stand with us. We want a clear end to this recklessness. This is not just theft, there is major underestimation of people's dignities and of public money," Raad added.
He concluded by warning that the country was at the brink of collapse yet "we are still doing the same things."
