Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed to transfer Iran’s enriched uranium to Russia as part of diplomatic efforts to address the Iranian nuclear issue, according to Sky News Arabia.
During a phone call with US President Donald Trump that lasted approximately 90 minutes, Putin said Moscow’s proposal to take in Iran’s enriched uranium remained on the table, Russia’s TASS news agency reported.
Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters that Putin stressed diplomatic options for resolving the Iranian nuclear issue had by no means been exhausted, expressing confidence that an agreement with Tehran could still be reached through negotiations.
Moscow has previously proposed transferring Iran’s highly enriched uranium to Russian territory, a move that could help advance diplomatic efforts to contain the wider conflict in the Middle East.
