Iran’s Foreign Ministry described Tehran’s hosting of senior military and security officials from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey as a significant step toward strengthening regional security cooperation, according to Russia Today.
Speaking at a press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said the four-way meeting marked an important development in regional diplomacy.
He described the talks, held following diplomatic initiatives and with Iran’s approval, as a practical step toward developing regional security mechanisms based on shared interests.
Baghaei reiterated Tehran’s longstanding position that lasting stability and security in the Middle East could only be achieved through the capabilities, political will and security considerations of regional countries themselves.
He expressed hope that the meeting would pave the way for broader cooperation.
Separately, Baghaei said a Qatari delegation’s visit to Tehran on Sunday formed part of ongoing regional consultations, reflecting bilateral relations and Qatar’s role as a mediator.
