Hamieh tours Nabatieh, pledges government commitment to reconstruction
Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transportation Ali Hamieh toured Nabatieh to assess the destruction caused by the Israeli aggression, which resulted in the martyrdom of over 110 residents.

The Minister was accompanied by the Director-General of Roads and Buildings, Engineer Ali Hoballah.

The tour began at Nabatieh’s government headquarters, where Minister Hamieh was received by MPs Hani Qobeisi and Nasser Jaber, alongside several local officials and representatives.

Governor Howaida Turk welcomed Hamieh’s visit, emphasizing the importance of governmental presence to support residents in the aftermath of the attacks. She highlighted the essential role of public works in restoring vital roads to facilitate residents' return to their homes.

Minister Hamieh reaffirmed the state's responsibility to assist affected areas, noting that 80% of roads in Nabatieh have already been cleared, with ongoing efforts to complete the remaining 20%.

Hamieh then stressed the government’s commitment to standing by its people, regardless of the region.

Hamieh then announced that the Council of Ministers would convene in Tyre to discuss reconstruction, including clearing debris from private buildings, pending an official decision. He also revealed ongoing preparations to allocate funds for infrastructure repairs under the 2024 and 2025 budgets.

After touring the city, including its destroyed market and municipal building, Hamieh condemned the magnitude of destruction and pledged that Nabatieh would rise stronger with the combined efforts of its people, Hezbollah, Amal, and the government.
