President of the Republic Joseph Aoun met with Apostolic Nuncio Paolo Borgia, who delivered a message from Pope Francis, stating: "I express my spiritual closeness to the beloved Lebanese people and pray that God preserves Lebanon as a treasure of civilization and spiritual life so that it may always remain a message of peace and harmony in diversity."
In response, President Aoun told the papal envoy: "I know that Lebanon is always in Pope Francis’ heart and prayers, and I look forward to a meeting with His Holiness soon."
