Nawaf Salam has become the head of the first government of the new mendate, following the issuance of the formation decrees from Baabda Palace.
Salam stated from the palace: "I hope that this will be a government of reform and rescue, and I affirm that reform is the only path to securing security and stability in Lebanon through the full implementation of Resolution 1701."
He added: "This government will strive to restore trust and reconnect the state with the aspirations of the youth, and it must work on completing the implementation of the Taif Agreement, advancing financial and economic reforms, and establishing an independent judicial authority."
He also noted that "any government formation is difficult to satisfy everyone, but this government will work to ensure harmony; diversity will not hinder the government's work, and it will not allow room for narrow, self-serving interests."
