Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Hajjar, hoped that citizens will vote extensively in Beirut in the afternoon, confirming in a statement: "We have taken all necessary measures to expedite the announcement of results."

He stressed that "prosecutions are continuing against those who fired shots," calling for avoiding this in the Bekaa and Beirut and hoping that this phenomenon will cease.

"The state today affirms its respect for constitutional entitlements and the right of the Lebanese people to express their opinions. The process is proceeding with complete democracy. Although some problems occurred, and the security forces were present, but the overall picture was good," Hajjar asserted.

He emphasized that "the government's approach is to respect the election results," adding that "there is no room for violation of the law, neither by the government nor the Interior Ministry."

"We hope the people of Beirut will choose who represents them in the best way," Hajjar reiterated, adding, "The turnout compared to 2016 is close, but we hope people will participate extensively in the coming hours. We have taken measures to expedite the vote counting process, and I will have a meeting with the Minister of Justice regarding this matter."
