Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received at the second presidency headquarters in Ain El Tineh, US Ambassador to Türkiye and Special Envoy for Syria, Thomas Barrack, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, and Speaker Berri’s Media Advisor Ali Hamdan.
The meeting reportedly addressed developments in Lebanon and the broad region, as well as political and field updates.
Speaker Berri thanked the United States for its support for the Lebanese Army, "which is carrying out its role and fulfilling Lebanon's obligations in implementing the ceasefire agreement and in implementing UN Resolution 1701, which Israel has consistently violated and continues to violate."
Speaker Berri also highlighted the importance of the presence and role of the UNIFIL force operating in southern Lebanon, and the importance of its mandate extension, given its crucial role in implementing UN Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement, highlighting its cooperation with the Lebanese Army in this regard.
On the other hand, Speaker Berri received Tunisian Ambassador to Lebanon, Bouraoui Limam, who paid him a farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.
The visit was an occasion to discuss developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Berri later received the new Lebanese Ambassador to the Vatican, Fadi Assaf.
On the other hand, Speaker Berri invited the Parliament’s Bureau body to convene at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23.
