The Public Administration Employees Association issued the following statement: 

"In response to the request of the directors-general, and while awaiting their meeting with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam after the union submitted its urgent list of demands to be delivered to the Prime Minister, the strike will be suspended for the current week. We hope that there will be no need to resume it, and that the government will take serious steps to improve employees' conditions.

However the strike will promptly resume if the government insists on disregarding the dignity of public employees, and any return to action would be coordinated with all active parties within the public administration."
