Kataeb Party leader MP Samy Gemayel affirmed that “Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri rejects any confrontation with the state and considers the Lebanese Army sacred, both for him and for us.”
Speaking from Ain Al-Tineh, he added, “After meeting with Presidents Aoun and Salam, we met with Berri to consult with him on the current phase, consider solutions, and facilitate the process of rebuilding the state.”
“Our priority is the full sovereignty of the state over all its territory through the handover of weapons,” Gemayel said, emphasizing that they “reject any marginalization of the Shiite community and want them to be partners in building a new Lebanon.”
He condemned “the statements made against Patriarch Rahi,” noting that “they reflect poorly on those who made them and aim to undermine all efforts for consensus and solutions among the Lebanese.”
Gemayel also pointed out that “Berri always tries to be the moderate voice within the Shiite community, and we can only meet him halfway.”
