President of the Republic Joseph Aoun welcomed Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence Kamal Shehadi at Baabda Palace.
Following the meeting, Minister Shehadi said discussions focused on the ministry’s work plan and the progress achieved, particularly on draft laws aimed at building a fully integrated digital economy. He noted that cooperation programs have been established with several ministries to strengthen this path.
Shehadi emphasized the importance of creating a sound legislative and regulatory framework to support and empower start-ups. He also briefed the President on a draft law to establish a dedicated Ministry of Technology and Artificial Intelligence, which was on the agenda of today’s Cabinet session.
“The President is closely following this matter, and we hope the law will be approved in Cabinet, in line with the government’s ministerial statement,” he said, adding that the initiative is a step toward integrating technology into state institutions and reinforcing its role in the national economy.
