Minister of Information Paul Morcos received Press Syndicate Dean Aouni Kaaki, in his office at the ministry.

Following the meeting, Dean Kaaki hailed the new media draft law, which is currently being studied by parliamentary committees, particularly with regard to protecting journalists against security summons for interrogation when a complaint is filed against them.

Kaaki expressed his appreciation for "the work of Lebanese security institutions and their commitment to media freedom and journalists," considering that "such complaints should fall under the jurisdiction of the Publications Court, especially since Law 77 prohibits the arrest of any journalist for any reason, limiting measures to monetary fines."

Kaaki also explained that "Minister Morcos informed him that he had agreed with the Minister of Justice on the freedom of journalists summoned by security agencies to choose whether to appear before them or not, and to request that the complaint filed against them be transferred to the Publications Court.” Kaaki considered this measure "an achievement for the Ministers of Information and Justice."
