Prime Minister Nawaf Salam chaired a meeting at the Grand Serail with a delegation from the Association of Retired Armed Forces, headed by Brig. Gen. Chamel Roukoz, in the presence of Finance Minister Yassine Jaber, Defense Minister Michel Menassa, and Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar.

Roukoz announced that the meeting resulted in agreement on six key financial measures: the disbursement of two additional grants this month; equalizing school allowances with those of civil servants at 100 percent; forming a joint committee on salaries and wages; incorporating previous grants into base salaries, particularly for retirees; adjusting family allowances, including spousal and child benefits; and inserting provisions in the upcoming budget to ensure salary corrections across the public sector, including military personnel and retirees.

Roukoz called on fellow retirees to join efforts in support of these measures.

PM Salam also met Joseph Habib, Dean of the Honorary Consular Corps and Consul General of Singapore, who discussed strengthening consular ties and praised Arab and international backing for Salam’s reform efforts. Habib proposed a future meeting between the prime minister and the entire consular corps, a suggestion Salam welcomed.
