Menassa meets UK Defense Senior Advisor to the Middle East
National Defense Minister Michel Menassa received at his Yarzeh office, UK Defence Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa (DSAME) Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, in the presence of British Ambassador to Lebanon Hamish Cowell, and an accompanying delegation.
The meeting reportedly discussed the latest developments in the region and their potential repercussions on the situation in Lebanon, particularly following the signing of the agreement to end war in the Gaza Strip yesterday.

The discussion also touched on the progress of the plan developed by the Lebanese army to restrict the possession of weapons to the legitimate authority and the stages of its implementation, in addition to the Lebanese army's deployment process in accordance with UN Resolution 1701.

The discussion also addressed the challenges that the military institution may face in filling the void created by the end of the mandate of UNIFIL forces in Lebanon at the end of 2026.

Admiral Ahlgren affirmed his country's continued support for the Lebanese Army's needs during this critical period, particularly with regard to establishing watchtowers and observation posts on the land border.

On the other hand, Minister Menassa received a delegation from families of the Abra battle martyrs, who demanded justice for their sons.
