President of the Republic Joseph Aoun met at Baabda Palace with Deputy US Envoy to the Middle East Morgan Ortagus, accompanied by US Chargé d’Affaires Keith Hannigan and Political Counselor Matthew Totillo. Discussions reportedly centered on the overall situation in Lebanon and the measures needed to restore calm and stability in the south.
President Aoun underscored the urgency of reactivating the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee (“Mechanism”), particularly to curb ongoing Israeli violations and attacks on Lebanese territory, and to ensure the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701.
Moreover, the President emphasized enabling the Lebanese Army’s complete deployment along the international southern border and facilitating the return of displaced southern residents to their homes and the restoration of damaged properties, especially with the onset of winter.
