Salam Outlines His Views on the Negotiations to Ortagus
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received U.S. Mission to the United Nations Advisor Morgan Ortagus at the Grand Serail, in the presence of the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Beirut, Keith Hannigan.

During the meeting, the work of the Mechanism for Monitoring the Ceasefire (Mechanism) and its role were discussed. Prime Minister Salam emphasized that the goal of any negotiations is to implement the ceasefire declaration issued last November, particularly in terms of halting Israeli attacks and the complete withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories. He also added that one of the goals of this process is to secure the release of Lebanese prisoners.

Salam pointed out that implementing the government’s decision to control weapons, whether south or north of the Litani River, requires expediting support for the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces by organizing an international conference specifically for this purpose. He also affirmed that stabilizing the south also requires international support for holding a conference on economic recovery and reconstruction.
