Minister of Interior Ahmad Hajjar met in his office with a delegation of Beirut MPs, including Fouad Makhzoumi, Ghassan Hasbani, Nicolas Sehnaoui, Nadim Gemayel, and Faisal Sayegh. Discussions focused on the internal situation, particularly issues related to the capital, Beirut.
During the meeting, Minister Hajjar briefed the MPs on the measures he took immediately after receiving information suggesting possible illegal financial transactions within the Beirut Municipality. He noted that he had sent official letters to both the Court of Audit and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, requesting a thorough review of the information and the necessary legal actions.
Hajjar also informed the MPs about his visit to the Finance Department at the Beirut Municipality, where he assured the auditors from the Court of Audit that “no one is above accountability and that investigations must proceed with full transparency, leading to the prosecution of anyone found guilty or responsible.”
