Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri met in Ain al-Tineh with a large delegation from the World Bank's Board of Directors, comprising 11 executive directors from the WB, in the presence of the World Bank Group (WBG) Executive Director, Abdulaziz Al Mulla, the World Bank Regional Director Jean-Christophe Carret, the Director of the World Bank's Beirut office, Enrique Blanco Armas, and Speaker Berri’s Media Advisor Ali Hamdan.
The meeting was devoted to discussing and presenting the World Bank’s projects, plans and programs in Lebanon, especially the reconstruction dossier.
Berri gave a detailed and comprehensive presentation, using a map prepared by the National Council for Scientific Research, which illustrated the extent of the damage caused by the Israeli aggression against Lebanon over the past two years, before and after the ceasefire agreement, and across various sectors. This also included the complete destruction of a number of border villages with occupied Palestine, in addition to the damage inflicted on infrastructure such as roads, educational, health, tourism, and industrial facilities, and the energy sector.
