Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces (ISF) said they arrested a Nigerian national accused of smuggling cocaine into Lebanon by swallowing capsules containing the drug.
In a statement, the ISF’s Public Relations Division said its Central Narcotics Control Office had received information that a Nigerian national was smuggling cocaine into Lebanon through the airport by concealing it in his body in the form of capsules. The suspect had entered Lebanon early on Aug. 14, 2026.
Following extensive investigations and surveillance, officers identified his location at a hotel in the Hamra area. The relevant units were then ordered to closely monitor him in preparation for his arrest.
On Aug. 16, 2026, an ISF force raided his hotel room and arrested him in a surprise operation. The suspect was identified as A.S., born in 1984 and a Nigerian national.
The ISF said officers seized 78 capsules containing cocaine, with a total weight of 1.8 kilograms.
Legal proceedings were initiated against the suspect, who, along with the seized drugs, was referred to the competent judicial authorities.
