$6 Million Fraud Attempt... Here’s What Happened
Lebanon’s General Directorate of State Security said it had arrested two Syrian nationals accused of forging documents allegedly issued by international institutions and foreign government agencies as part of an attempted financial fraud involving nearly $6 million.

According to a statement issued by the directorate’s Media, Guidance and Public Relations Division, the Directorate of Administration and Institutions received information about individuals allegedly involved in forging official documents and papers attributed to international organizations and foreign government bodies.

Following the investigations, authorities identified the two suspects and found that they had allegedly used the forged documents in an attempt to carry out a financial scam by luring Lebanese citizens and claiming they could facilitate the illegal transfer of nearly $6 million to Lebanon.

Acting on instructions from the Financial Public Prosecution, State Security arrested the two Syrian nationals, identified by their initials as (M.N.) and (F.N.), and seized a number of documents allegedly issued by international financial institutions and foreign official bodies, which were found to be forged.

The two suspects and the seized materials were referred to the competent judicial authorities for the appropriate legal action.
