The rift between Hezbollah and its “big brother” is deepening.
Hezbollah’s coordination unit, which is responsible for organizing media and online attacks against its opponents, has reportedly received the signal to unleash its online operatives and launch a social media campaign against Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, following two messages he sent to the party.
The first came after Hezbollah’s latest show of force, when members wearing black shirts took to the streets of Beirut. Berri warned the party of the dangers of such actions. He later delivered a second, more direct message through the media, saying his relationship with Hezbollah had been closer under its former secretary-general, Hassan Nasrallah. For the first time, he also rejected the notion that there was a “big brother” or even a “little brother” in the relationship.
