Former leader of the UK Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, has criticised James Cleverly, the UK home secretary, in parliament for his “matter-of-fact statement” about the launch of missiles by the UK military against targets in Yemen.
He labelled it “extraordinary” that Cleverly had given “no indication of what the long-term war aim is by the UK” and had said “nothing about the crying desperate need for a ceasefire to protect the people of Gaza”.
Corbyn added that the UK government should be striving for a peaceful resolution “rather than further militarisation of all the seaways” around Yemen.
