The United States has experienced a wave of severe thunderstorms and dangerous tornadoes that struck vast areas of the central and southern parts of the country, with Texas facing the worst weather phenomena.
Satellites and radars detected two violent tornadoes: the first in eastern Arizona and the second near the New Mexico-Texas border. A giant dust-loaded tornado appeared, destroying farmland in western Texas. However, no human injuries were reported since it occurred in remote rural areas.
The intensity of these storms is increasing with the arrival of the meteorological summer, as specialized agencies recorded more than 200 reports of damage and severe storms extending from the plains to the Great Lakes.
Rare weather phenomena included hailstones the size of coins falling in Las Vegas, which is unusual for this desert region.
Meteorologists warn that this unstable weather pattern will continue, with approximately 88 million Americans at risk of severe storms, especially in the plains and south-central regions, classified as level two out of five on the danger scale.
The weather hazard zone is expected to shift on Saturday to the Mississippi Valley and the southeastern areas, with the potential formation of violent thunderstorms that could cause flash floods and dangerous lightning.
Weather forecasts indicate a possible worsening of conditions with repeated thunderstorms over the same areas, increasing the risk of flooding, as well as the potential formation of destructive "derecho" storms, characterized by their long paths and great destructive power.
Several cities are expected to experience heavy rainfall ranging between 15 and 30 centimeters over the coming weeks, according to the National Climate Center.
