US President Donald Trump delivered pizza and hamburgers to a group of police and National Guard officers assigned to a high-profile campaign against what he described as rampant crime and homelessness in Washington, D.C.

Trump had previously hinted that he might join a patrol, saying, “I think I’ll go out tonight with the police and the military, of course… so we’ll do our job.”

Instead, he made a brief visit to the operations center of the US Park Police along the Anacostia River, where he thanked law enforcement for their efforts.

“I feel very safe now, and I’ve heard that people feel very safe, but I know that in two weeks it will be at a much higher level,” Trump said.
