Britain’s inflation rates have cooled by more than expected last month as the war continues to push energy costs higher.

Consumer prices rose by 2.8 percent in the 12 months to April, down from March’s annual inflation rate of 3.3 percent, according to data from the UK’s Office for National Statistics.

Before the war began on February 28, the Bank of England said inflation in Britain – the highest among the Group of Seven economies – was likely to be close to its 2 percent target in April.
