Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam, on Thursday received EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, at the Grand Serail, in the presence of EU Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra De Waele, and the accompanying delegation.
Salam thanked the European Union for its continued support for Lebanon, affirming the government's commitment to implementing reforms and strengthening state institutions.
The discussions also addressed developments in southern Lebanon and the importance of moving forward with the implementation of the trilateral framework based on the principles of reciprocity and phased implementation, with a clear timetable and a mechanism to verify the fulfillment of commitments.
The discussions also touched on the importance of maintaining an international force after UNIFIL’s mandate ends, as well as the need for continued international support for the Lebanese Army to enable it to extend state authority over the country's entire territory, ensure stability, and consolidate the return of residents to their homes.
