US sources told Israel’s Channel 12 that Israeli fighter jets reached Iran’s borders as part of a simulation of an attack on Tehran.

Israeli fighter jets recently flew over Syria and Iraq and approached Iran, the sources added, noting that Israel had informed Washington in advance of its fighter jets’ flights near Iranian airspace.

Channel 12 reported that Israel had hoped the fighter jets’ flights would provoke an Iranian response.
