Iran: No More Red Lines
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the Islamic Republic would “no longer abide by any red lines,” in response to remarks by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

In a post on X, Araghchi wrote: When the US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran began last year, Merz welcomed the attacks, describing them as carrying out Europe’s dirty work.

He added: The 100 billion euros cannot compare to the decisive and devastating response that the Iranian armed forces will deliver to anyone who dares to violate our people’s sovereignty. There will be no more red lines.

At the conclusion of his visit to South Korea, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had called on the parties to the conflict to prioritize diplomacy to end the hostilities, amid speculation about the possibility of renewed US attacks on Iran.

I urge all parties to the conflict to recognize that a military solution is not an option. We are working to strengthen and coordinate diplomatic efforts through various channels to end this conflict as soon as possible, Merz said.

He also pointed to the conflict’s economic repercussions for Europe, noting that Germany has vital economic interests in resolving it. He added that rising energy prices had already cost Europe more than 100 billion euros.
