Turkish pilots kidnapping unveiled the airport security chaos

Again Beirut International Airport and its roundabouts are in question.

A main part of the official investigation in Turkish pilots kidnapping operation focuses on how the abductors obtained information about the airplane schedule, from its arrival then timing when the staff got off, to passing by the security forces inspection to the arrival of the staff to the hall reaching to the timing when they were en route to the hotel on a bus.

It is to add also that the bus was being watched from the airport to Cocodi Bridge where the operation occurred, and it is almost certain that this perfect operation requires coordination with Air traffic control, in addition to make the passing cars believe that a car accident took place on the road asking them to take another path. It is worth to remind the security officials that the surveillance cameras were the spark that erupted May 7, 2008 unrest.

This recent airport incident makes one goes back to previous political assassinations hours after the arrival of political figures to Beirut such as Gibran Tueini and Antoine Ghanem... Some consider that kidnapping of the Turkish pilots holds much greater message than the Aazaz pilgrims’ abductees.

Kidnapping the Turkish pilots along with other cases makes the airport remain a missing link which reveals the security chaos happening there. Hence the option of activating other airports is to be put on table.
