A fire broke out on part of the Brooklyn Bridge after fireworks were launched during the U.S. Independence Day celebrations.

The New York Post reported: “A fire broke out on the Brooklyn Bridge as fireworks were launched from it during the Fourth of July display over the East River. Two other sections also appeared to catch fire as pyrotechnics were fired from that part of the bridge.”

The newspaper said all of the flames were extinguished within a minute, adding that it remains unclear whether the bridge sustained any structural damage.

A video published by the New York Post on its YouTube channel, attached below, shows fireworks exploding around the bridge before a small section briefly catches fire.
