Amid continued speculation over the health of Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who has remained out of public view since succeeding his father following the US-Israeli airstrike in February, Iranian state-controlled Mehr News Agency on Saturday released an undated video purportedly showing him.
However, it remains unclear when or where the footage was recorded, and there has been no independent verification that it reflects his current condition.
State media releases 12-second clip
"A video of the Leader of the Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, released for the first time," Mehr wrote while publishing the video on its website.
The 12-second clip showed Mojtaba, who reportedly suffered severe facial and leg injuries in the February 28 attack, appearing in good health while seated on a carpet inside a closed room. Wearing a black turban and a light grey robe over white clothing, he was seen interacting with people seated around him.
The agency did not specify when or where the footage had been recorded.
Similar footage released in March
The latest video follows another undated clip released by state broadcaster IRIB on March 20.
"Published for the first time. A video of religious science teaching by Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei," IRIB had posted on X, without disclosing the date or location of the recording.
Since assuming office as Iran's third Supreme Leader on March 8, Mojtaba Khamenei has issued several written statements through state-run news agencies but has not released any photographs or voice recordings.
The 56-year-old was also absent from his father's funeral ceremonies last month, further fuelling speculation about his health.
Pezeshkian says communication is 'very difficult'
Earlier this week, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged that communicating with Mojtaba remained challenging.
"It is very difficult to communicate with him at the moment, but in any case, his presence is a very great source of strength for us so that we can continue," he said.
Pezeshkian added that he had nonetheless held productive meetings with the Supreme Leader.
"Unfortunately, the current situation allows some malicious people to describe him differently and to present a different image of him," he said.
