Prime Minister Nawaf Salam welcomed Canada’s new ambassador to Lebanon, Gregory Galligan, at the Grand Serail.
Ambassador Galligan reiterated his country’s support for Lebanon’s reform path and the extension of state sovereignty across all its territory, stressing Canada’s continued backing of the Lebanese Army.
Salam also met with a delegation from the economic and social bodies in South Lebanon, led by Dr. Abdallah Bitar, who briefed him on the devastation in Nabatieh and broader challenges facing the South. The delegation urged state support for local businesses, farmers, and municipalities, while stressing the need to reinforce judicial independence and ensure equal rights for citizens.
Salam also welcomed Middle East Airlines Chairman Mohammad El-Hout, who invited him to sponsor the airline’s 80th anniversary celebrations, and met with Lebanon’s newly appointed ambassador to Uruguay, Raed Al-Khadem, ahead of his departure to assume his post.
