Jawad Nasrallah, son of Hezbollah’s former Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, said that Israel’s attack on the pagers system sparked his father’s anger.
Speaking to Reuters, Jawad said: “Personally, I believe that if he had lost one of his own sons in exchange for saving everyone injured in the pager explosions, it would have been easier on his heart.” He added: “He was upset, angry, and full of reproach toward some people. ‘How could this happen?’ he would ask, feeling personally responsible for this bloodshed.”
Jawad noted that his father’s movements “were all difficult and dictated by the security situation. We could only take it day by day. Nothing was fixed.” He added that the Nasrallah family learned of the assassination through the news, just like everyone else.
Regarding the handover of Hezbollah’s weapons, Jawad said: “Dream on if you think Hezbollah will give up its weapons.”
