Parliament Session Postponed as Berri Points to Key Reason
The Media Office of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri issued the following statement:

"Given that the purpose of the draft amnesty law and the exceptional reduction of certain sentences is to restore the principle of legal justice and guarantee individual freedoms especially since the situation in prisons has been marked by chronic delays in issuing criminal rulings and despite the efforts made by parliamentary bodies and joint committees to reach a national consensus that would serve as a unifying factor in a country in dire need of solidarity and agreement what has taken place and been witnessed in more than one region accompanied unfortunately by sectarian and denominational incitement has led to the decision to postpone tomorrow’s session to a later date under the slogan of consensus."
