According to sources, the municipality of Maghdoucheh received a late-night alert about a suspicious motorcycle spotted in the “Rous al-Haddadin” area within the town’s jurisdiction, carrying two individuals, which raised concerns among residents.
A municipal patrol, consisting of two vehicles and several local young men, immediately headed to the area. Upon arrival, they found the motorcycle abandoned on the ground with no one nearby.
While municipal personnel were attempting to remove the motorcycle, they were surprised by the arrival of several vehicles carrying a woman and around eight individuals. Upon exiting their vehicles, the group allegedly attacked the municipal team and local youths with sticks and knives, targeting the deputy mayor of Maghdoucheh in particular, along with others who intervened in self-defense.
Reports further indicate that individuals from the town of Anqoun threw two grenades toward the municipal group and fired shots into the air, significantly escalating tensions. Several municipal vehicles were also vandalized during the confrontation, which quickly spiraled into widespread chaos. Some of the individuals involved were reportedly armed with knives, sticks, and firearms.
A Lebanese Army officer was also reportedly assaulted while attempting to intervene and contain the situation.
The tension lasted for nearly two hours before units from the Lebanese Army Intelligence Directorate arrived, cordoned off the area, and restored calm. Security forces also launched a pursuit operation, leading to the arrest of several wanted individuals so far.
