Riachy Calls for International Force to Restrain Hezbollah
Member of the Strong Republic bloc, Lebanese Forces MP Melhem Riachy, said that “the project of placing all weapons under the state’s control is the dream of all of Lebanon, and it will be achieved at the right time.”

Speaking to MFM, Riachy added: “We are stuck in the middle of the U.S.-Iranian conflict, but we have succeeded in creating a separate track for negotiations. This is a major achievement in terms of national sovereignty.”

He said the Lebanese government should work toward implementing Lebanon’s full neutrality and seek the assistance of an “international police force” to deter Hezbollah and enforce UN Security Council Resolution 1701, particularly paragraph 12, which provides for Lebanon’s right to seek the assistance of international forces.

He added: “Lebanon is caught between the governor of Acre and the governor of Damascus. Interference in Lebanon’s affairs is ‘normal,’ but what is surprising is Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s position rejecting interference in Lebanon’s affairs.”
