The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has warned that “Despite lower levels of violence than earlier this year, the situation in south Lebanon remains fragile.”
The peacekeeping force said that between August 21-27, it recorded 1,030 projectile trajectories in the area, an average of 147 per day.
“Behind these numbers is a continuing toll on civilians, with homes and vital infrastructure damaged and communities struggling to recover,” UNIFIL said.
It added that it continues to monitor developments and “work with the parties to help prevent further escalation”.
