The Lebanese MP Ihab Hamade confirmed that “there is still ambiguity surrounding the reality of Israel’s control over Ali Al-Taher Hill,” saying: “How can the Israeli enemy claim to control Ali Al-Taher Hill while it continues to shell and carry out airstrikes against it on a continuous basis, given that it controls the area from the air or by geographically surrounding it from all sides, without its forces being able to enter the facility or establish ground control over it?”
In an interview with Sputnik Radio, he stated that “Israel has not released any images confirming that it seized control of Ali Al-Taher or the logistical weapons it has referred to, while also claiming to have killed large numbers of fighters and forced others to flee. How could this happen while it is maintaining a tight grip in the air or on the ground?”
He said that “Israel is trying to portray Ali Al-Taher Hill as Hezbollah’s last stronghold, allowing Netanyahu to use it as a political card in the elections. However, like any other position or hill in southern Lebanon, it has its existential and sacred significance. Israeli control over it is not, in reality, a military catastrophe, nor is it the end of the road, particularly given that the resistance put up a legendary confrontation at Ali Al-Taher. But there are now red lines that will determine the course of Israeli actions.”
He pointed out that “the framework agreement signed by the authorities enabled Israel to establish this control and seize part of Lebanese territory, as Netanyahu himself had announced.”
Regarding the release of the prisoners, Hamade concluded: “According to Netanyahu’s own admission, these freed prisoners had no connection or affiliation with Hezbollah. Therefore, their capture constituted an act of aggression and a war crime, for which Israel should have been held accountable before international courts had Lebanon not relinquished its right to do so. Therefore, the release of the prisoners is not an achievement for Netanyahu.”
