Watch: Israeli Tank in the South Sparks Questions
The Israeli Public Broadcasting Authority reported details about the tank that sparked controversy in Lebanon over the past 24 hours, after videos circulated showing what appeared to be “laser beams” emanating from its turret in the village of Zawtar al-Charqiyah.

According to the Israeli broadcaster, the tank seen in the footage is a “Lion King” tank, a model that had remained classified until recently.

It added: “Israel had previously allowed the disclosure of the existence of tanks in the Armored Corps equipped with special capabilities, most notably an advanced ability to determine locations with a high degree of accuracy.”

As for the flashing lights seen in the footage and likened by observers to laser beams, Israel claimed that “these lights are the result of optical effects related to the way the footage was filmed and the exposure time, and are not actual laser emissions.”
