WAM, according to the UAE Attorney General, reported that an investigation into the Flydubai incident found that the co-pilot had attempted to carry out a “terrorist attack.”

The UAE Attorney General said the Flydubai co-pilot attacked the pilot with an emergency axe and attempted to take control of the aircraft. He added that the investigation was still ongoing to establish all the circumstances and motives behind the incident, with the final findings to be announced once the necessary procedures are completed.

A Flydubai spokesperson said that “the circumstances surrounding the incident involving our aircraft remain under investigation,” adding that the airline was “not in a position to provide further comment at this time.”
