Hurricane Hits Florida And Flood Warnings Issued
The US National Hurricane Center said Hurricane Isaias weakened to a Category 1 storm after making landfall near Destin, Florida, but warned of dangerous storm surges and flooding amid widespread power outages.

In its latest advisory, the center said the hurricane was about 105 kilometers west-northwest of Panama City, Florida, with maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour.

The center warned that life-threatening storm surges could affect the Gulf Coast, while dangerous hurricane conditions and flash flooding were spreading inland.

The center said the hurricane was expected to move through Alabama and Tennessee early in the week.

PowerOutage.us reported that nearly 380,000 people in Florida and more than 210,000 in Alabama had lost electricity as the hurricane reached the coast.

US Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin wrote on X: “Emergency declarations have been approved for Florida and Alabama to ensure federal resources are available to respond to Hurricane Isaias.”
