Berri: Ties With Hezbollah Were Closer In Nasrallah’s Time
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said his health was good but expressed concern over the overall situation in the country, saying: My health is good, but the country’s health is not.

Attention is focused on tomorrow’s Cabinet session amid the explosives case, with several ministers expected to call for its referral to the Supreme Council. Speaking to Sawt kel Lebnen radio, Berri stressed that he would attend the session, saying: We will attend tomorrow’s Cabinet session. Asked whether he would withdraw if the issue were raised, he replied: We will not withdraw.

Berri noted that a law governs the referral of cases to the Supreme Council, stressing that the matter must be handled in accordance with the law.

Regarding the Lebanese army’s role and the tasks assigned to it in southern Lebanon, Berri stressed that the army is a red line.We stand with the army, he added. He made the remarks in response to a question about concerns that a confrontation could occur if the army moved to carry out its assigned tasks in the south.

As for his relationship with Hezbollah, Berri noted that ties had been closer during the tenure of the group’s former secretary-general, Hassan Nasrallah. He also stressed that neither side should be regarded as an older or younger brother.
