Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that opposition leaders would bear responsibility for any future attacks against Israel, accusing them of undermining security warnings issued by him and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to Russia Today.
Katz singled out opposition figures Yair Lapid, Naftali Bennett and Yair Golan, accusing them of repeatedly criticizing the government’s warnings about potential attacks aimed at influencing the outcome of the upcoming elections.
He claimed that Israeli authorities possessed intelligence indicating that hostile forces could attempt attacks before or during the elections.
Katz stressed that the Israeli military was prepared, both operationally and through intelligence capabilities, to undertake preventive and defensive measures against Iran and its regional allies across multiple fronts.
He added that the military would act immediately if necessary, or in accordance with decisions and directives issued by the political leadership, to deter threats and protect Israeli citizens.
