MTV Reveals Drug Network Using Minors and Drones
Following up on MTV’s exclusive report on the drug network uncovered in the southern town of Sarafand, another equally serious case has emerged before the judiciary. The details overlap with those of the first network, exposing new criminal methods that target children and exploit modern technology to distribute drugs.

Exploiting minors for drug deliveries

An in-depth judicial investigation supervised by South Lebanon’s Public Prosecutor, Judge Zaher Hamadeh, has revealed that gangs are increasingly relying on a dangerous method that involves exploiting minors and young people to distribute drugs. Dealers and traffickers give minors quantities of drugs to deliver to customers in villages and towns in exchange for small sums of money, amounting to no more than $10 per delivery.

This practice has effectively turned minors into a drug delivery network operating from one village to another. It facilitates drug distribution while avoiding direct security scrutiny and draws young people into drug use and crime.

Investigators have also uncovered a large-scale gang operating across southern Lebanon. Most of its members have extensive criminal records and outstanding arrest warrants. These networks use the Rashidieh, El-Buss, Burj al-Shemali and Ain al-Hilweh camps as key bases for storing and managing drugs.

In a notable security development, investigations revealed that a major dealer facing several arrest warrants had resorted to using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to expand his distribution operations. The dealer sent drug shipments by drone from a specific house to nearby areas to avoid security force checkpoints and patrols.

Judicial efforts to pursue drug-related cases have encouraged many families in southern Lebanon to break their silence. Some parents have filed official complaints against their children who use drugs, after their homes became a living hell due to domestic violence, assaults and property damage committed by their children under the influence of drugs.

Intensive investigations are continuing to dismantle the remaining branches of these networks, with judicial authorities stressing that they will show no leniency toward anyone involved in activities that threaten social security and the younger generation.
