Yemen’s Houthis said Egypt’s decision to provide defensive support to Saudi Arabia against Houthi attacks amounted to a declaration of war on Yemen, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Ansar Allah movement’s Political Council, criticized Egypt and its parliament for endorsing what he described as the defense of Saudi Arabia.
It is remarkable that while these parties claim to be pursuing peace in the region, Egypt and its parliament announce their support for the so-called defense of Saudi Arabia, thereby declaring war on the Republic of Yemen, he said.
The remarks came amid escalating hostilities between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia.
On Monday, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman participated in talks in Tehran with Iranian, Pakistani and Turkish officials aimed at de-escalating regional tensions.
