President Joseph Aoun told Lebanese Food Safety Authority President Elie Naji Awad and the authority’s members that food safety is a priority, safe food is every citizen’s right, and protecting it is the state’s responsibility.
He stressed that the cases of food fraud reported in Beirut and Akkar constitute crimes that will not be tolerated, adding that all those involved must be held accountable, from suppliers and warehouse operators to anyone who covered up the violations.
