Former Secretary General of the Progressive Socialist Party Sharif Fayyad, called for the establishment of a national unity government, noting that maintaining the vacuum hindered settling socio-economic crises.
Fayyad, who spoke during a ceremony held by the PSP to commemorate the martyrs of the Mountain, warned against attempts to "confessionalise" security services so that they protect a particular community.
He felt that these were attempts against the institutions which are supposed to protect Lebanon.
Fayyad reiterated the support of the PSP to the Syrian revolution, calling on the factions of the Syrian opposition to unite.
He also called on all Lebanese parties to resume dialogue, stressing the commitment of his party to dialogue, civil peace and stability.
