The Argentine authorities have declared a week of mourning following the death of Pope Francis, according to presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni on the social media platform X.

He said: "Pope Francis, Jorge Bergoglio (his secular name), who was the spiritual leader and guide for millions of men and women, has passed away. President Javier Milei will declare a seven-day mourning period for the death of Pope Francis."
